  • DRI Pellet Heating and Cooling Energy Recovery Using Vertical Tube Heat Exchangers

DRI Pellet Heating and Cooling Energy Recovery Using Vertical Tube Heat Exchangers

Vertical tube heat exchangers using new refractory materials can recover thermal energy from EAF plants to preheat DRI before the EAF to significantly reduce the primary energy consumption in the EAF. The same technology can also be used to cool DRI during DRI pellet production. Heat pipe technology can capture energy from melting furnace flue gas streams including their hot offgases, which can significantly reduce carbon footprints. Studies conducted have proven that 50%+ of waste energy can be recovered and economically transformed into other solids, gas and fluid streams, creating novel energy-efficient solutions for the steel industry.
