  • Predicting NOx Emissions in Steel Production: Model Development and Validation

Predicting NOx Emissions in Steel Production: Model Development and Validation

In February 2024, SMS group installed a gas analyzer on a steel meltshop stack in Southern Europe to measure CO, CO2, O2, NOx and SOx emissions. After six months of data collection and analysis, a digital model was developed that reliably predicts NOx emissions based on different steel grades and melting profiles. Future work will focus on further refining and validating this model to enhance emission control strategies and optimize the steel production process, aiming to improve both environmental compliance and operational efficiency.
