Numerical Analysis of Strip Crown and Roll Deformation in Finishing Rolling Mill
In the hot rolling process, when the rolling force applied to hot-rolled strip, it causes work roll deflection. This deflection causes nonuniform stress/strain distribution and changed the strip shape. To evaluate the roll deflection and stress/strain distribution during hot rolling process, 3D-FEM used to calculate the elasto-plastic deformation of strip steel and elastic deformation of the work roll and backup roll for finishing rolling mill. Moreover, the influence of work roll bending force and deformation resistance on strip crown and width spread were evaluated. The calculated results were used for the improvement of on-line strip shape setup model.
