Development of a Python-Based GUI for Enhancing Day-to-Day Operations of an Electric Arc Furnace
A Python-based GUI based on thermodynamic calculations and empirical relations was developed to provide material addition guidance for efficient EAF refining. The GUI plots Isothermal Stability Diagrams (ISDs) using data sourced from FactSage to track dual slag saturation points across various temperatures and basicity levels, thus maintaining refractory compatibility, refining characteristic and aiding foamy slag conditions. Additionally, a data-driven model was developed to explore effects of slag components and properties such as liquid percentage and viscosity, providing deeper insight into the refining process, enhancing operational efficiency. Relevant case studies are presented to demonstrate GUI’s application and impact on EAF operations.
