Demonstration Plant for Producing High-Purity Hydrogen From Blast Furnace Gas
The early-stage development of a novel technology (H2GENTM) to produce hydrogen using blast furnace gas was presented at AISTech 2023. This paper reports the results from the first field demonstration plant. A demonstration plant was designed, fabricated, installed and commissioned. The paper includes information pertaining to operational results under actual shop conditions, the impact of industrial feedstocks and other challenges. Data on the hydrogen produced by the H2GEN process will be covered along with the relevance of utilizing the H2GEN technology to generate clean hydrogen from blast furnace gas, in order to decarbonize integrated steel production.
