Prevent Overhead Cranes From Accessing Work Areas With Permanent and Temporary No-Fly Zones
In steel production, overhead cranes are commonly used to transport materials from primary steel production through shipping. Areas with heavy vehicle or personnel traffic are areas of safety concern, as not all mill employees may understand the proper precautions to take when near overhead cranes. Maintenance activities on machinery or building structures may also be reasons to keep a crane away from an area. No-fly-zone systems can be implemented to make permanent no-fly zones, no-fly zones with restrictions, or temporary regions in which the crane may not enter without additional supervisory control.
