Application of Lubricant to the Backup Rolls With New Design and Comparison With Work Roll Gap Lubrication Method in a Hot Strip Mill
Rolling lubricant usage is accepted as effective in terms of energy consumption, roll wear and product surface quality in the hot strip mill (HSM). Due to the aim of improving roll working condition, alteration from a well-known work roll lubrication system to redesigned backup roll lubrication system was made at Çolakoğlu Metalurji HSM. In this paper, a redesigned backup roll lubrication system will be introduced and the implementation of a new system was described. Furthermore, advantages of the new lubrication system on roll wear, energy usage and rolling operation will be shown; and comparison of lubricant consumption will be given.
