Comparison of CO2 Capture Options at MIDREX Flex Plants
The paper presents the technical concepts for integration of a CO2 capture system into a MIDREX Flex direct reduction plant at different hydrogen utilization rates. Three different options for CO2 removal will be compared regarding technical features, CO2 emission reduction potential, consumption and OpEx values. Also, the available heat integration opportunities will be explained. Additionally, the advantages of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group’s KM CDR process™ for the Midrex process with respect to its performance values, carbon capture rates, energy saving potentials and therefore reduced operating costs as well as plant references and demonstration plant facilities are outlined.
